Guess who's behind the "Defeat Sotomayor" tour?

The one and only Randall Terry. You know the one, founder of Operation Rescue, the guy who called Dr. George Tiller a "mass murderer," the same guy who has ties to James Kopp (who was convicted for killing Dr. Barnett Slepian), etc.

Terry recently announced a 12-city tour to build up opposition to Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, whose confirmation hearings begin July 13. This "tour" starts today, and includes a press conference at Dr. Tiller's former office.

Just take a look at the press release he issued and the accompanying brochure:

The following was released today by Randall Terry, founder of Operation Rescue:

Randall Terry is to make a 12 city tour to mobilize opposition to Sotomayor. Also, tens of thousands of "Defeat Sotomayor" brochures have been mailed. The brochure can be seen at (Sotomayor's face is morphed into the Angel of Death).

Randall Terry states:

"We must stop permitting this hypocrisy, cowardice, and treachery in our midst. Pro-life voters are calling on pro-life Senators to filibuster Sotomayor.

"A Senator cannot say, 'I want to overturn Roe,' and then vote to confirm a Supreme Court Judge that will uphold Roe. A vote to confirm Sotomayor is a vote to uphold Roe.

"Many senators use pro-life rhetoric to seduce us; they get our money, our volunteer labor, and our votes. But once an election is over, they discard us like an embarrassing mistress. They say that they want to overturn Roe, but they do little or nothing to protect the innocent. Whether they are 'pro-life' Republicans like John McCain (AZ) and Sam Brownback (KS), or pro-life Democrats like Ben Nelson (NE) or Robert Casey (PA), we have been lied to again and again.

"Whether they 'have the votes' to sustain a filibuster or not, they need to fight to stop her, for the sake of the babies who will die under her judicial reign."
You can get a closer look (if you can stomach it) at the "details on strategy to filibuster Sotomayor" here (PDF document). There's also a PDF of the entire brochure (cover pictured above) here. Warning: graphic images included.

Here is the list of places this "tour" will be. If you are nearby, go voice your opinion. If you're not, now is as good a time as any to contact your senators and voice your support for Sotomayor, and perhaps mention that no senator should make any decisions based on what a dangerous nut like Randall Terry has to say.

The Omaha World-Herald has a story about Terry's press conference outside Sen. Ben Nelson's office on Tuesday. An excerpt (though I really wish no one would respond to Terry at all):
A spokesman for Nelson, a Democrat, issued a statement saying he is “strongly pro-life, has an impeccable record opposing abortion and appreciates the support of major pro-life organizations in Nebraska and nationally.”

The statement also said he believes that Sotomayor “understands the importance of faithfully upholding the Constitution and of not making law from the bench.”

Nelson said he decides how he will vote on judicial nominees only after their confirmation hearings and after their entire record is reviewed.

There are two planned for June 8; please let me know if you know of others:

11:15 a.m. in Topeka, at Sen. Sam Brownback's office. Details.
2 p.m. in Wichita, at Women's Health Care Services. Details.

I know we're dealing with frothing lunatics, but Sotomayor doesn't really even have a record on abortion. Her one ruling was in favor of George W. Bush's "Mexico City Policy" that banned government funding of abortion in other countries. Just further proof that right-wing Jesus™ wingnuts aren't interested in facts, just their agenda.

And I personally believe that there is something seriously wrong with Randall Terry. Just look into his eyes, then look at pictures of assorted serial killers, it's kinda eerie.

Tiller is a mass murderer.

Sorry, late term abortions are inhumane. And should be repulsive to any decent human being.

except for they're already only done b/c a) kid's dying anyway b) pregnancy endangering health of the mother, but hey, don't let facts or concern about womens' health get in the way of your righteous defense of assassination. That Tiller saved lives, that pretty much all of the late-term pregnancies he aborted were -wanted- by the parents, that they had enough heartbreaking crap to go through already w/out fanatics screaming at them about being "baby killers" & trying to keep them from losing the mother as well.

...why am I talking to a fanatic/'bot? sigh.

Clearly you don't even understand the work Tiller was doing. Not surprising since you continue to demonstrate that you don't understand much of anything with your asinine comments and constant trolling.

Tiller was doing work that was an unfortunate necessity. To paraphrase what was on his website, if you had to to Dr. Tiller, you were already mourning. These abortions weren't something women could just get because they changed their mind at month 8, these were cases where lives were in danger. Whether it was the life of the mother, or the fetus, who would experience some kind of debilitating condition that would make their few short moments on this planet pure agony.

But of course, like most Republicans, the world is all black and white to you. There are no shades of gray and George Tiller just loved to murder him some babies! You lack the ability (or simply refuse) to look at the world through any other eyes but your own. It's no surprise why you defend Sarah Palin at every turn, you're both happy in your ignorance.

So continue to troll my blogs and my friend's blogs all you want, but just remember "Tiller is a mass murderer" as the reason why I don't bother to take you seriously.

Sorry, but I'm kind of laughing that ANYONE would purposely associate themselves with fucktard Randall Terry. But congrats, Gabriel, on doing just that. (Do you even know who this guy is?!?) What a fucking idiot.

We all know that this is typical of the right wingers. They always say tout all of their holier than thou bullshit, but they get busted with their pants down doing exactly what they were being all uppity about. Blabla, say something unique.

I always find it hard to understand people who call George Tiller a "murderer." My question to them always remains, how many times have YOU been pregnant? How many times have you had to drive to a hospital where a needle almost as big as your arm is placed in your growing belly to take a sample? How many weeks have you spent waiting by the phone for test results on the fate of your unborn child? Watching the calender, knowing that no matter what the test results say, you have just crossed over to the "late-term" part of your pregnancy? How many sleepless nights have YOU faced waiting?
Until you can answer those questions Gabriel, you have no idea what your talking about. Not a clue.

Oh, how terrible. Obviously you were forced to spread your legs and create a human being. I'm just so sorry to hear that time may be ticking away on your opportunity to kill human life.

You libs love sugar coating shit, and not looking at reality. Tiller is scum, as is anyone who would take a human life that is that fully developed.

What a bunch of weirdos.

"not looking at reality."

Projecting is fun.

Yep, projecting is fun.
